Berkeley College has announced scholarships offered to more than 200 graduating high school seniors in New York and New Jersey who have demonstrated a high level of achievement. The scholarship recipients represent more than 130 high schools in New Jersey and New York. You can view the list of the high schools here. With indoor gathering restrictions in place during the COVID-19 pandemic, the reception was held virtually, on February 18, 2021.

“Congratulations to all the Berkeley College scholarships recipients on persevering through these interesting times and excelling in your studies,” said Michael J. Smith, President of Berkeley College. “At Berkeley College, we believe in you and your future. Take the time to think about how you can best continue your educational journey to make the most of your talents and build your skills to achieve your goals. Your potential is our promise.”

President Smith noted that Berkeley College has been able to pivot with the needs of students in a COVID-19 climate by conducting courses online when necessary and onsite for students who prefer the traditional teaching and learning experience when COVID-19 isolation orders are lifted. “Berkeley College offers the best of both worlds,” said President Smith.

First-year Berkeley College scholarship award recipients have the option to enroll in a college credit course during the forthcoming semester, and to participate in virtual programming designed to support and prepare students to achieve success and make the most out of their Berkeley College experience. Prospective students can meet virtually with the admissions counselor, participate with their family in a Financial Aid workshop, or attend a career-specific workshop with students and faculty on popular programs such as graphic design, health services administration, criminal justice, data business science, and fashion, for example.

More than $48 million in Berkeley College institutional aid was provided to qualified students during the 2019-2020 award year. The value of each high school scholarship award ranges from 50% to 100% tuition. These scholarships are renewable, based on the recipient’s cumulative grade point average at the end of each academic year and continued enrollment as a full-time student. Those students awarded a Presidential Scholarship may apply for acceptance into the Berkeley College Honors Program.

Berkeley College celebrates its 90th anniversary in 2021. The theme commemorating this milestone is “Empowering Lives for 90 Years!” Visit the 90th Anniversary webpage for more information.
